5 Skin and Hair Care Tips for Autumn

Autumn has begun and cooler weather is coming soon. When seasons change, you need to adapt your beauty routine to the new conditions. These are our 5 tips to prepare your skin and hair for autumn.

1. Exfoliate

Excessive sun exposure during summer can damage your skin and remove its collagen and elastin. Your skin becomes thicker and loses its firmness. Additionally, you tend to sweat more and with sebum and dirt, all you get is clogged pores. Clogged pores prevent active ingredients from penetrating into your skin and cause dullness. Exfoliation removes dead cells and keeps your skin looking healthy.

Face exfoliation:

Use mild scrubs to prevent irritations and avoid products with harsh ingredients that may dehydrate your skin. Opt for natural face scrubs with pure ingredients that are friendly to your skin and the environment.

Face exfoliation should be done 1-2 times a week. Remember that it is preferable to use face scrubs at night since they can cause temporary redness.

Body exfoliation:

Choose a natural body scrub with large grains (scrubs with olive grains or coffee grains are ideal).  Exfoliating soaps are also a good idea and don’t forget luffa. Extremely effective and a 100% natural, eco-friendly and biodegradable product.

2. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize

Moisturization is the key factor for your health. You definitely have heard about the importance of drinking lots of water during a day. But what about your skin?

During summer time we spend a lot of time at the beach or at the pool tanning. Hot weather and sun exposure may dehydrate your skin and cause dryness. To restore your skin all you have to do is moisturize it.

Face moisturization:

Use a moisturizing face cream to nurture and protect your skin. Opt for a face cream that provides UV protection and apply every day. Don’t forget your night cream as its basic function is to repair your skin and provide deep hydration.

Body moisturization:

Use a body lotion right after your bath. If you feel that your skin is sincerely dehydrated, it’s wiser to prefer a rich body butter. To seal in moisture you can apply on top a nourishing body oil.

3. Take care of your hair

Sun exposure during summer can damage your hair and reduce its elasticity leaving it dry and brittle. On the other hand the cold weather of autumn can cause a lot of hair issues like frizz and dry scalp. To maintain a healthy look on your hair, the goal is double: restore and protect. You can achieve both goals by using a nourishing hair oil.

Hair oils hydrate, increase hair thickness and protect your hair from breakage.

Apply once or twice a week and rub into the ends of your hair. For better results, put some oil on your scalp and massage really well. Wrap a towel around your hair and let it work for min. 30 minutes. Then wash it off with shampoo as usual.

4. Protect your lips

Lips are one of the most sensitive areas in your face and they need proper care, especially when temperatures fall. Cold weather and dry air can cause dryness and lips get cracked and itchy. To prevent and repair chapped lips, just follow these tips:

Firstly use a natural lip scrub that will exfoliate your lips, remove dead cells and leave your lips smooth and ready for the next step.

Which is… what else? Moisturization! Use a natural lip balm that does not contain synthetic chemicals and apply as often as needed.

Extra tip: Try to avoid matt lipsticks as they tend to dehydrate your lips and opt for products with more liquid formulas.

5.Offer your hands and feet the care they deserve

Hand care

Hands and face are the only areas of our body exposed all year long. We may take care of our face but unfortunately we often forget to take care of our hands.

Autumn weather can be harsh and if you leave your hands unprotected they will soon give the first signs of dehydration. Frequent hand washing makes it even worst and you end up with cracked hands. Sounds painful!

To protect or heal chapped hands, use a natural hand cream that will offer an intensive hand treatment and will hydrate and nourish your hands immediately. Apply on clean skin every day several times.

Foot care

The season you could wear your open-toed shoes or sandals is over but this doesn’t mean that you must stop caring for your feet. The rule stays the same: First exfoliation, then moisturization.

To exfoliate dry and chapped heals use natural pumice stone or an exfoliating soap that removes dead cells and hardening.

To moisturize your feet apply an organic foot cream that moisturizes and improves circulation so you can get smooth and relaxed feet.
