5 Easy DIY Face Scrub Recipes for every Skin Type

Exfoliation is a very important step in any skin care routine. When you exfoliate regularly, you keep your skin clean and encourage it to produce new cells. And of course you don’t have to pay a fortune for expensive products. You can make your homemade face scrub with ingredients from your kitchen. But before we move on to the recipes, let’s find out more about the skin benefits of face scrubs.

How do face scrubs benefit the skin?

Face scrubs benefit the skin in many ways:

- They deeply cleanse the skin’s pores removing dirt, dust and pollutants

- They remove dead cells and rejuvenate dull skin

- They eliminate blackheads

- They improve the appearance of enlarged pores

- They even out the skin tone and improve the skin’s texture

- They improve blood circulation and boost cell renewal

- They make the skin softer and smoother

- They improve product absorption. Skincare products penetrate deeper into the skin and are more effective.

- Opt for a face scrub suitable for your skin type. If you are not sure what your skin type is, read this article from our blog:

The Simple Trick to help you identify your Skin Type

- Do not buy or make scrubs with ingredients you are allergic to. If your skin is irritated after use, remove the product from your face and rinse off with plenty of water.

- After the use of a face scrub, apply a moisturizing product to prevent water loss and protect your skin from dehydration.

- Do not apply body scrubs on to your face. Body scrubs are made with ingredients that are too harsh for your face and may cause irritations.

- Don’t exfoliate too often. In general you should use a face scrub 1-2 times per week. However, depending on your skin type, more or less frequent application may benefit your skin. If you suffer from very dry or extra sensitive skin, once a week is perfectly ok. If you have oily skin and want to get rid of blackheads, you could use a face scrub up three times a week.
