Benefits of natural deodorants

Natural deodorant has gained great popularity in recent years. Going natural in all aspects of life is not just another trend; it is a necessity and deodorant is not an exception. But how effective is it? And why should you try it? Let’s see all the pros of getting into natural deodorant.

  • They are safe to use

Conventional deodorants contain a lot of chemicals such as aluminum and parabens. These ingredients could harm your health as they are linked to different medical problems (breast cancer, reproductive issues, and others). Although there has been no study yet to deliver definite evidence of their harm, a lot of consumers are concerned about their health and have started to avoid them, opting for more natural solutions: natural deodorants are chemical–free and safe to use providing long-lasting protection.

  • They are made with pure ingredients

Your armpit is one of the most sensitive areas of your body and harsh chemicals found in regular deodorants can damage your skin. Everyday use can cause dryness, redness, irritations, and even allergies. Natural deodorants contain plant-based ingredients, such as botanical extracts, organic oils and butters, etc. These ingredients are friendly to your skin and do not irritate it. Furthermore, since most natural deodorants do not contain alcohol, they eliminate the after-shave burning sensation.

  • They don’t clog your pores

Sweating is a natural function that helps regulate your body temperature. Through sweat, harmful toxins are released and certain impurities (pollutants, dirt) are expelled. Clogged pores open up and the content built up inside them is released. Regular deodorants that contain aluminum, block sweat and this often causes inflammations. Natural deodorants, on the other hand, do not prevent this physical function or do not prevent it entirely. They allow you to sweat and deal with your body odor, reducing bacteria, and covering smells.

  • They help you get healthier skin

Ingredients found in natural deodorants usually have moisturizing and calming properties. They soothe and nourish the skin offering deep hydration and improving its texture and overall appearance. Plus, there are natural deodorants that can help you get rid of dark underarms as they fight hyperpigmentation the natural way.

  • They are eco-friendly products

Most brands specialized in the production of natural deodorants don’t use toxic chemicals, harmful substances, or genetically modified materials. The packaging is usually biodegradable and recyclable. They do not test on animals. There are also many options in vegan and/or palm-oil free products. So if you want to go green and have a more ecologically responsible lifestyle, you could just start with your deodorant!

  • They help you smell great naturally

Natural deodorants do not contain synthetic fragrances and usually derive their scents from essential oils. Most people know that essential oils are widely used in aromatherapy and in the treatment of various health problems, but are not aware of their use as natural scents in DIY cosmetics and high-quality natural skincare products. They smell amazing and the good news is that you can create your own combos when making your homemade deodorant.

As you can see there are numerous pros to natural deodorant. Going natural is not that hard as it seems but before you make the transition, you better keep in mind that:

a) It takes time for your body to adjust to natural ingredients and you will have to be prepared to go through a period of detox first. In practical terms, that means…sweating and smelling a lot for about two weeks.

Conventional deodorants have been clogging your pores for years and years and when you finally make the transition to natural deodorant, all those blocked toxins and bacteria are released out of your skin. My advice: show some patience and don’t give up! It’s just two weeks and you will soon be rewarded!

b) Our bodies have different needs and chemistries and some natural deodorants might not work for you. Try different kinds and brands until you find what works best for you. It may take a while but again: don’t give up so easily.

Tip: Your body will get used to it and the ingredients that fight odor won’t be so powerful after a while. It is a good idea to try new products and mix them from time to time.
